Yoga & Meditation

I believe yoga is for every body and everyone. I teach a heart centred and accessible form of embodied yoga and meditation suitable for all.

Creating a supportive environment in which it’s safe to explore, experience and embrace all that’s present in the body, mind, heart and energy flow is fundamental to my sessions both online and in person in Brockenhurst, Sway and the New Forest area.

With kindness, compassion and curiosity there is much wisdom and healing that we can access. When rooted and grounded we can deepen into a state of presence and expand our consciousness and awareness, allowing us to sense, feel and listen for ourselves and learn to trust our own growing connection, guidance and flow.

Yoga knows everything and everyone to be flowing with the same vibration of energy. Its essence is pure love. Utilising a combination of practices – breath, movement, mantra, sound, stillness, intention, affirmations, deep relaxation, meditation, mudras, reflection and deep restoration – all sessions are gently guided to give the most heart centred and accessible teaching in that moment, whilst encouraging you to trust your own guidance above all else.

Learning to listen inwardly and develop lightness of heart encourages us to go with the flow of life, responding in the present moment, and reminds us of the spirit and radiant light within each and every one of us.

It isn't just what happens on the mat or in a class, although that is a great place to start, it’s about living, breathing and surrendering in everyday life and we take the wisdom from the experiences out into the world.

About Heart Meditation

Be guided to rest into greater stillness of mind and peace of heart whilst being grounded and rooted within. From this peaceful, vibrant centre you can expand from the heart into the field of awareness, sinking into the pause… witnessing the blissful joy that naturally arises. Return home to your own light and essence within. Experience your inner radiant smile and open to the peace and healing of the heart.

About Sound into Silence

For those seeking another way into deep rest and relaxation I combine the beautiful use of sound to bring greater harmony, resonance and alignment so that the mind can rest more fully into the softening body and quieting nervous system.

I invite you to find a comfortable position and experience this Radiant Heart Meditation. Enjoy.

    • Develop clarity and focus

    • Deepen peace and relaxation

    • Awaken the Heart - Mind

  • Sequences of asana (postures) and pranayama (breath) are combined in a flowing style that encourages breath with movement and becomes a moving meditation. All sessions open and close by coming into stillness and getting fully into the present. These accessible presencing and meditation (dhyana) practices develop our ability to direct awareness out of the mind, into the body and into the heart. Yoga philosophy is gently woven into sessions for a more complete yogic practice to support in everyday life. My appreciation and love of traditional chanting, sacred songs, or songs of the heart, can also be included.

Deeply restorative and yoga nidra (yogic sleep) sessions are available to release stress and tension, to fully relax and bring relief to the body, mind and nervous system and rejuvenate and restore from within.

With my physiotherapy background I can support and encourage students navigating injuries or ongoing physical conditions so that they feel safe, confident and empowered both in class and in their lives. I can also guide and inspire you to build confidence to develop your own practice to support you in your daily life.

Seasonal retreat days in Brockenhurst allow us to immerse more deeply into our practice and come together in community to build local connections and friendship. These will be updated and added on the events page.

  • Yoga has been, and continues to be, a great companion and teacher in my life. I particularly appreciate that we can directly experience in our own unique way without judgement or expectations. We can develop our own true connection and relationship to the essence within, the light and presence of love in all hearts. This allows the teachings from this ancient science and art to be open and available to everyone no matter their experience, beliefs, faiths and outlook on life.

Graduating as a Heart Of Living Yoga teacher and Heart Minister beautifully and profoundly deepened my connection, practice and my way of teaching and guiding. I am still learning, growing and deepening in my own practice and integrating more and more into my own life.

  • “My individual yoga sessions with Jo always bring me gently back to my self. Jo's wonderful generosity of spirit, along with her warmth and compassion are helping me to explore and listen to my physical, emotional and spiritual bodies through developing my yoga practice. Above all, it is the importance and beauty of the breath that, with Jo's caring wisdom and support, I trust more and more to light my life's path. Namaste.”

  • “Jo Pitcher, yoga superstar... I always look forward to this yoga class (despite my lifelong attachment to my sofa). Each week Jo unfailingly creates a warm, supportive environment that gently challenges me to keep growing in confidence and ability to both energise my body and still my mind. Each class is a journey towards strength, peace and relaxation with a sensitive guide and teacher. Whatever your level of ability this class will make you feel good.”

  • “My wife and I stumbled upon Jo's yoga whilst holidaying in the New Forest.  We're glad we did as, having practiced yoga for close to 40 years, we know a great teacher when we meet one. Soothing yet invigorating, all you want from a class. Go to one of her classes asap.”

  • “I was feeling very vulnerable, low and in a drained emotionally exhausted state. Now my general happiness and well being are back within me and I feel more in control of my life... Years of back ache are virtually gone and my chronic insomnia is starting to improve. I highly recommend Jo to anyone!”

  • “Jo has a real gift for creating a very warm, inviting and gently humorous space, even when it's online. I have experienced different kinds of yoga and teachers, and often felt discomfort in the form or feeling rushed or self conscious.  In class with Jo, I felt like I finally found the 'point'. She guides in a way that nurtures one's own flow and rhythm, whilst still being together and sharing the power of the practice. The effects of the class stuck with me in the following days, and for the first time, I began my own daily practice. Thank you for this embodied inspiration!”

  • “I have also been lucky enough to experience Jo as a yoga teacher, and her classes are some of the best I have ever been to. Combining the breath, moments of stillness and beautiful flowing movements, Jo's classes helped me to advance in my personal practice in a safe comfortable way which never felt challenging or intimidating. She is a wonderful guide both on and off the mat to helping you be more in tune with yourself and your path.”

  • “I had the most beautiful, restorative time at Jo's Winter Retreat Day. Sometimes our default setting can be a state of stress and exhaustion, taking the time to acknowledge the season and rest can be a really revolutionary act.”

  • “I first started Yoga classes with Jo more than 8 years ago, whilst pregnant with my second child. Jo took a great deal of care to individually adapt the practices as my pregnancy progressed. This was really fantastic as it enabled me and my baby to continue to safely enjoy the benefits of yoga right up to the birth and beyond.

  • “One to one treatment with Jo brought about a much more fluid way of breathing, being and moving within my yoga practice.  Insights were revealed to me. Jo's guidance in yoga is an invitation to move freely and intuitively. Just what our whole being needs! I am very grateful, Jo is a beautiful and gentle soul.”
